Can A Collections Agency Help Game Purchasing?

By Robert Sutter

If there's one hobby that I have managed to sink more money into than just about any other, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to say "video games." It's the kind of pastime that I cannot help but place more focus on, especially when it comes to all of the different systems that have come out during my lifetime. Such systems, as well as games, can potentially land many individuals in debt if they are not careful. How can a collections agency help in this regard?

First of all, you want to make sure if you can actually wait for certain titles to go down in price. For example, you can look to nearly any PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 game and see that it comes with a recommended price tag of $60. This may not sound terrible if you're looking to purchase one game for an extended length of time but those who are hobbyists will want to purchase even more. It's likely that they will sink a few hundred dollars a month for these titles.

I know that going to stores in order to pick up items is the norm but should this be the case when it comes to picking up video games or consoles in general? I don't know this is true and the reason that I say this is because all you have to do is go online to see the finest deals out there. Maybe you have large percentages taken off of items that you wouldn't be able to see in any store. If you're able to support these practices, then it's likely you will see similar or even better ones in the future.

If you absolutely must buy your games new, please do yourself a favor and pick up the titles which have the most glowing reviews. These are typically great indicators of quality and this can be said for many other entities as well, a business like a collections agency being one example. In a few months, I assure you that these games will lower in price if the number of purchases is not substantially high. Quality is something that can be seen, as agencies along the lines of Rapid Recovery can tell you.

The hobby of gaming has earned quite a bit of attention by individuals but it isn't without its caveats. From consoles to games, the cost of such a pastime is going to be rather substantial and you have to be able to help yourself in this regard. It's important to have a couple of luxuries in life but your attention should be focused on what you need on a day-to-day basis. If you are able to keep this in mind, then better spending measures will be seen on your part.

How Debt Collection Services Look At Deferment

By Robert Sutter

There's a lot that can be said about student loans in general and there are a number of payments that have to be made on them. However, there are instances when they simply cannot be covered, whether it has to do with lack of employment or what have you. Deferrals have been utilized in such matters but how useful are they in the long term, you may wonder? Well, it's the kind of subject that has the attention of those in debt collection services, a firm understanding being seen.

There may be many reasons as to why deferrals have been set up by those who owe these particular amounts. It could be a case of economics, where employment may not be able to meet the needs of the masses. It's also worth noting the possibility of being away overseas, since there are students who serve in the army. What you should keep in mind, though, is that not everyone's situation is going to be the same and that there will be even the smallest changes seen.

It's very likely that you'll find one different mindset after another and many will tell you that deferrals are no good at all. They view deferrals as tools which are utilized in order to prolong the inevitable. Yes, you may be able to put off the payments for a while but it's not like individuals can simply choose not to pay them off. This is the sort of matter that should not be run away from and this process may not be attractive to those who want to get rid of debt quickly.

Debt is one of those matters that are viewed as substantial and I am sure that anyone involved in debt collection services will be able to tell you the same thing. Academics do not exactly come cheap, especially if you take a moment to look at research. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the amount of debt today has been built to almost $1 trillion. It's concerning for authorities like Rapid Recovery. Deferral may be a path for some but it's a non-option for others.

I believe that no one can argue with the idea that deferrals are seen as short term concepts. They may be helpful in some situations but I believe that they should be utilized in the most careful of ways. By this, they shouldn't be relied on as a crutch because the payments they're putting off must still be covered, no matter what. Those who have the concept of paying off these amounts in mind are those who are going to benefit the most from cautious deferrals.

There Is Life After Bankruptcy

By Mitchell Sussman

As a result of the crash in the real estate market and the floundering U.S. economy there are literally millions of people filing bankruptcy each year. The statistics reveal that Chapter 7 is by far the most frequently filed Chapter with 958,634 non - business of consumer filings for the period ending December 31, 2011. The reason for this is that a Chapter 7 bankruptcy releases individual debtors from personal liability for most debts and prevents the creditors owed those debts from taking any collection actions against the debtor. 11 U.S.C 727

When considering filing for bankruptcy one of the frequently asked questions that is pose to a bankruptcy attorney when contemplating filing bankruptcy is " Will I be able to get credit, after filing bankruptcy?"

While the answer to this question varies from individual to individual, this article seeks to provide some insight into the factors which go into answering this question.

The common misconception among those considering filing for bankruptcy, is they will no longer be able to buy a home, car or even get credit. While it is true that a bankruptcy can appear on your credit report for years, a bankrupt's ability to get credit post - bankruptcy is dependent on two factors. The first is the debtor's income post - bankruptcy. The second is the debtor's ability to show that they can manage their post - bankruptcy debt. The single most important factor in securing credit post - bankruptcy is a demonstrating ability to pay.

Extreme examples that demonstrate the importance of ability to pay are the unemployed debtor versus the lottery winner. Needless to say if after you filed for bankruptcy you are unemployed, it does not matter that you filed bankruptcy and discharged your debt, you still will not be able to get a credit card, a new car or home mortgage financing. Now the flip side to this extreme is the fortuitous lottery winner.

It goes without saying, that a bankrupt who wins the lottery after the entry of his or her discharge will be able to buy virtually anything and the obtaining of credit will be little or no problem.

Between these two extremes is the typical consumer, who makes a living wage and has through bankruptcy shed all of his or her debt. For the typical consumer, it is their financial condition, post - bankruptcy, and their ability to manage their post - bankruptcy debt that determines the extent of credit that will be extended after filing for bankruptcy.

For our so - called typical consumer let's use the following illustration: A consumer with $50,000 in credit card debt pre - bankruptcy, consisting of ten (10) unsecured creditors. Let's also assume that the consumer has a steady job and is making $4,000.00 a month. Now imaging that you are a banker and this consumer walks into your office with $50,000.00 in debt, ten creditors and a yearly income of $48,000.00. If you were a banker, would you give this consumer a loan, knowing that the consumer already has ten outstanding creditors and debt equal to over a year's worth of income?

Contrast this with the same debtor, post - bankruptcy. As mentioned above, a debtor receives a discharge in Chapter 7. What this means is that all existing unsecured debt, with few exceptions like taxes and child support, are wiped out. Again put yourself in the shoes of a banker. If that same consumer walked into your office making $4,000.00 with absolutely no debt and no other creditors, wouldn't you be more inclined to grant that consumer a loan? Especially knowing that the consumer had already filed a Chapter 7 and couldn't again file another for at least another eight years. 11 U.S.C. 727 (a)(8)

Let me put it another way, if I walked into to see you and you were a banker and I had $50,000 worth of debt, was making $4,000 month and had ten credit cards that I couldn't pay, would you be willing to be the eleventh creditor?

On the other hand, if I had just filed bankruptcy and had absolutely no debt with not a single credit card or other outstanding bill, still making $4,000.00 per month would you find me a better risk knowing that you would be first in line to be paid, not eleventh.

In sum, the post - bankruptcy credit issuer, be it a credit card company or your mortgage banker knows two pivotal things. First, that the consumer has no debt having already discharged it in a Chapter 7. Second, that the consumer can't file Chapter 7 again for eight more years.

In sum, the filing Chapter 7 is designed to give the debtor a "fresh start." Part of the "fresh start" means a fresh look by bankers of all kinds. As such the debtor in a post - bankruptcy world is a much better credit risk that the same debtor pre - bankruptcy. Thus, the important thing to remember is that your ability to secure credit post - bankruptcy depends not so much on your prior credit history but how you manage your financial affairs after filing bankruptcy.
